Got out with my brother on Sunday for the last morning of the season. He was just looking to get a couple to try some smoked goose breast, so we didn't head out too early, maybe 7:30 or so, and he put down a pair almost immediatly. Half an hour later, a single set into the decoys and the third bird was down. We spent the next hour watching hundreds of ducks buzzing in and out of the field, landing in the goose decoys, had a blast shocking them when we stood up from the blind, i mean literally hundreds of mallards, and flocks of 50-60 widgeons crossing the blind every few minutes, crazy how many birds were flying :-D
We decided to pack it in around 10 am, and as we were packing up the dekes and gear, standing in the field, 8 honkers land right in front of us, 30 seconds later another 7 set into the field 50 yards in front of us, my brother racks his pump a few times, just to let them know we are right there, and they all look at us, and not one flies away! Would have been very easy for him to limit, but he had what he needed, and we just watched them for a while, they never even left as we walked into the house, just waddled farther away,lol, all in all a very cool morning:)
Thanks to all of you HBC'ers, I have learned so much from this site, as a newbie, it is good to know that there is so much experience here to read up on.
