Guy runs a great outfit but its tough country up there. I went with a 37 year old who couldn't take it. I don't want to mention names but his name was Gatehouse. Sorry Clarke; coundn't resist.

Hey! I was 36 at the time! And Curliss made me do all the heavy lifting, and I injured my back! Meanwhile he sat around looking at ghey porn mags all the itme!!

We took him to the docotr and they cured him of his gheyness, so he is okay now..

Anyway, I thik that Guy runs a great outfit, and you won't be dissapointed. 8-)

I have not used Guy personally but I have traveled up and down that river for over 30 years and have gotten to now Guy the last 10 years or so. I have seen his camp spots and yes it is not real easy country, we have 4 fellows now over 60 and one that is 70 and they do just fine maybe not as fast as before but steady. I have recomended Guy to some friends and they have all had real good things to say. You can tell when someone is OK by the way they are willing to help people etc and I have seen Guy help with out even worring about being compensated. I know DeadDog on this site has used him so hopfully he will see this post and reply.

I have met the man, seen his boat, drank his moonshine, seen the photo library, and shot the breeze with him. I'd go with him in a heartbeat!

I emailed and invited him to the HBC Victoria Christmas gathering. He wasn't able to make it but didn't mention anything about seling the business! That would be a loss!

Yeah, he is trying to sell the business. He posted on here awhile ago (July I think) about selling the company. Don't know if it is still for sale.

Islandeer, I believe he charges around $1200 to get you into moose/elk areas and about $1700 puts you into sheep country. He'll come and check on your camp and carry out any meat you need if you are staying longer. There is a link to his website on the HBC home page.

I have used guy scotts service several times and will be doing so again this year, great boats, a ton of skill running them, guy is a straight shooter who will tell you how it is, as far as age just talk to guy and explain your situation. As tuchodi eluded to early on in this thread they have several older fellows in their camp, rumour has it one time a fellow over eighty, they outshoot us every year in numbers of six point elk, age is definitley not a disadvantage!! I would not hesitate to use guys services

When I last spoke to Guy, he was straightforward:

He has being doing this a long time, he has built a tremendous business, he has had a fantastic time, he has made a good living, but he is not getting any younger, and it's time to pass on the reins.

he is still operating, and I have no doubt that his "For Sale" sign does NOT indicate a decrease in the fantastic service he provides.

In fact, he indicated to me that any purchaser would have his training and knowledge passed on for whatever it takes, to get the new operators up to speed.

GUy is AOK #1, as far as I am concerned...8-)
