No joke, my buddy was driving home to Alpine this afternoon and saw a moose on the right side somewhere between the village and Brennan Park. I was with a client when he called so details are sketchy. He said there was a bunch of vehicles pulled over and many people taking pics so they are out there! Awesome.

Brennan Park is in Squamish :)

But yeah, there has been a cow moose hanging around the north end of Whistler this year.

That's great, let's hope their numbers increase in region 2 and poachers/First Nations don't ruin it like in region 5...

My buddy has a picture of it. Moose are much closer to Whistler than any elk.

Totally forgot about this! On Thursday mornings my boys have a 6am on the ice hockey practice in Whistler so we are at the arena at 5:45am at the latest. One Thursday morning about a month ago, with about 6' of fresh snow in the parking lot and not a tire a tire mark in it, is a set of moose tracks coming across the lot from the Green Lake side going behind the arena by the zamboni dump towards Alpine via the Meadow Park baseball fields. Not that surprising but it was a first sighting for me.

With moose in Elaho and moose up the Lillooet River it should be no surpise to see one in Whistler.

I know that spot , right between the ER and nesters .
I saw the moose in area sign about a week a go , on the one day this year I took the bus .
Sad thing is , with 90% of this town being aussies I dont think anyone got the significance .
Ive seen one moose up the soo , and a moose carcass in that same area of the soo , but its the first time Ive heard of one being in town , and that in 16 years in the valley .
Now if we could get some more Elk up here we'd be set .

I lived in Whistler for 9 years from 1987 to 1995. We only saw moose in and around Whistler a couple of times but we did see them more frequently around Pemberton.

As for the 5th hand knowledge, ive had lots of family see "huge moose" and i turns out a 2 point jumped accross the road.

Bunch of pics of it circulating on the intraweb now. It's just off the road that connects White Gold to Lorimer road, by the clinic.

In between The Boot and the Day lots for the old timers. :)

Just past the corner of Lorimer and Blackcomb Way. The spot is famous now. Pulled over to have a coffee. Half the vehicles were slowing down and looking. Cars pulling over for a few mins looking

my friend almost hit one with his truck about a month ago in squamish right by the wendys/tim hortons beside highway 99, he said it ran off towards the cop shop across the street and into the bush. There has been lots of wildlife sightings in that area over the years, mostly cougar, yotes and bears, deer. I asked him if it was an elk and he was like "there is no way it was an elk it was massive"

Elk were on the hwy in Squamish the other night. Tourist are gonna start thinking they took a wrong turn out of vancouver and ended up in northern BC

If you hit it with a car, a 2 point moose will seem like a huge moose.

There seems to be quite a few moose in the Pemby area. Lots of sign just across the Green River bridge at the foot of Mt Currie.

Have a cousin who worked at the Peace Portal Golf Course just out of White Rock some years ago and he came across a moose there one frosty morning. It was in the Vancouver Sun, but I never kept a copy of the article. They appear to be showing up futher south and west all the time. I remember in the fifties we were told you had to go up past Prince George to shoot them. I think it was the logging that opened up more country for them.

I saw a moose on the south side of the #1 hwy between Chilliwack and Hope a couple years ago. We were heading up north for a LEH moose, and that was the only moose we saw all week lol. I have seen lots and lots of moose on the coq between hope and the toll booth.
