Take away the fact that he is a hog and totally legal, try and age this guy.
Pic was zoomed in from 10 feet, from a couple hundred yards on a live ram would be pretty well
impossible.
This may help to explain why the age criteria is now gone for bighorn rams

6 years of age. And you are right from any distance this would be really tough.

looks 7 years. Yep tough, I wouldn't even try and count in the field, as Im not even confident counting on this close up.

Field judging bighorns is so damn tough for sure. Hell, some rams are hard once their in your hands, but at least if you can see the backside of the horn it becomes easier. But yep, sure makes sense why aging is out of the regs on bighorns.

Went back and looked at the pedistal pics to get some different angles (crucial when aging bighorns) and I am sticking to 6 years of age.

I'm going 8. Never had to age a b horn. The lamb tips are much different than stones arent they? at 'first' I even got 9 !? The lamb tips confuse me on Bhorns.

That's a toughy, you'd definitely need the right angle to catch the little shadows of the heavy rings. I'll call him 6.

Those who said 6 years are correct, he is even harder to age from the back.

I didn't shoot him, only had the pleasure of mounting him. Any story of this
ram will have to come from someone else.

But I can give a few numbers, 16 1/2" bases, 40" long, and scores 181- 182

I'd say 6 1/2.
