This is where I picked up my GSP. They are based In Vancouver. My GSP was 14 months when I got her. She was spade, tail docked and dew claws and up to date on her shots. I payed a $350.00 tax deductible donation. http://www.dogwoodrescue.org/?page_id=313 . They have a nice male 14 month old GWP and a few other none hunting and hunting dogs.

Congrats on the new hunting partner, get some pigeons and work your dog so you guys can get used to each other, even an experienced handler and seasoned dog need time in the field to bond. Good luck Have fun.

The second I have a job that will allow me the time to properly care for a dog, a GSP will be bouncing around my backyard. Wanted one for years. Very jealous of you and your new hunting partner. Post some pics!

Congrats!

she is half finished, naturally points, creeps , trails, is housebroken, has good recall . Very mellow if gets the proper exercise and a watchdog! phenominal dog. but you can't give her milkbone treats, cause they all get buried!!http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/w556/coplin1/spoilt_zps683d4709.jpg (http://s1329.photobucket.com/user/coplin1/media/spoilt_zps683d4709.jpg.html)

Glad she is a great dog..but...don't trust her recall 100%.
My son has 2 GSPs and both wear an electronic recall collar when out and about. They have immense prey drive and when something catches their attention they are very difficult to recall. One is 5 years old and they have had her since she was a pup. The other they got when she was 16 months old.
they are wonderful dogs, especially in the house. Huge cuddle bugs and from what I have seen they are wonderful with children and other dogs.

Once they lock onto a deer then they are gone. I use two collars. when out in the woods and in the Field.
