I think most folks go to a beauty salon and get it there.

Others will post first hand info I'm sure.

20% - 25% is available at most hydroponics retailers and is way cheaper than the salon stuff. 40% is pretty concentrated. I dilute the 20% stuff for skulls and they come out VERY white.

Yep, Sallys, a sallon supplier in Victoria, as well. She knew what I wanted and what it was for as soon as I said Hydrogen Peroxide. Including a brush, it was around $10. There was plenty enough to do my elk skull from this year.

Haha yeah. You tried a salon wholesaler. It's a price protection thing to protect salons and their huge markups. Try Chatters. They for sure will sell to you.

Just buy a box of Borax and boil the scull in it.

Try to avoid Borax or bleach.......skull looks good today....but 2-3 years from now it will self destruct.

Agri supply in Kamloops does not carry it anymore. Sunshine gardens has a regular supply of commercial grade peroxide, valley view.

sorry to go slightly off topic but once you find that peroxide, do you simply just soak the skull in it for a few days to get it to turn white?

I run a bead of "hot glue" on the inside of the teeth first then I place the skull in heavy plastic (usually liquor store bags:-D) then in the bottom of an old fridge crisper that I have cut holes down the sides a little for the antlers to fit. I will only soak for 24hrs, then a very good rinse. I let it air dry for a day then do any final removal of cartlidge.

I used 25% diluted to probably 12% to completely submerge the skull and it only took 2 hours.

You would frist soak your skull in a good grease cutting dish washing soap <Dawn works great> that pulls any grease-fat that is in the skull then do your peroxide soak

I've never done a whole skull as I usually just do the typical top of skull mounted to a plaque. This year I just used dollar store peroxide. I covered the bone in paper towel then poured on the peroxide. It turned to spitball consistency and I just kept it moist for a day or two until I thought it was white enough.

Watch your doses, straight bleach or peroxide will make it go yellow over time, it also lessens the skull density, making it appear almost opaque and much more brittle.
