One of drivers at the company I work for hit one on the highway in the NWT. The impact was slow but the headlight mount, fiberglass hood and bumper were bent on the pete he was driving. The heard just started running across the road and he clipped one of the first to cross.

First off, as usual, you got a bunch of *ssholes who pulled into the left passing lane and don't know how to gear down, so they're going way too slow. Second, look at that pr*ck right in front of the truck - trying to make a lane change without noticing that someone is in the lane already...must be texting.

My Wife and I got held up by the Laird herd for quite awhile a few years ago. They simply didn't want to move off the road and no amount of maneuvering, hollering, or honking phased them until a big rig came along with it's air horn. They can be quite intimidating when they tower above a small vehicle. When I rode my bicycle through the same area, I worried about having to get through that bunch, but although they were nearby, none were on the highway, which really relieved my anxiety, you bet!

That particular herd isn't getting a big as it should because they like the highway corridor so much. It gets brushed every 3 years, keeping the food supply in good shape. The parks guy told me there should be a thousand, but because of traffic accidents there is only between two and three hundred.
