Google "A book on duck shooting" hardcover and follow the links. There are quite a few available on ebay, amazon and elsewhere.

So what are some good reads about duck hunting, Ian? I'm more interested in duck hunting stories than how to books. My own favourite is The Duck Hunter's Book edited by Lamar Underwood.
It's a collection of old duck and goose hunting stories by different authors. I also saw the other thread about Grinnell's American Duck Shooting and not having a Kindle I picked up an original edition off ebay that was a library book in Massachusetts (sp). While I was looking for that book I also picked up American Duck Goose and Brandt Shooting by Dr. William Bruette printed in 1934. It's a little drier than Grinnell but still an interesting read and some great color plates. Must be the time of year with the seasons ending I'm already getting nostalgic.

Ended up finding one for $80.00 shipped. A re-print from 92'. We'll see if it does the trick.

Here are some of my favs

Modern authors...
Worth Mathewson my hands down favourite - big december canvasbacks
Gordon McQuarrie - I've only read some shorts, most love the trilogy

mid century
Outlaw gunner
John O Cartier - mostly how too, but a nice read
Zack taylor - how to, but good read

Early century
duck shooting along the atlantic tidewater - various authors

Decoys...
Decoys of the pacific flyway
Traditions in wood (Canadian Decoys)
Carving decoys the century old way, grayson chesser - how to make dekes in the eastern shore style, great stories within.
Shang, the biography of Charles E. Shang Wheeler - One of my all time favourite reads, took me years to find a copy I could afford. If duck hunting needed a role model, Shang was/is that man.

I'm way too late to help but here is another source for books I've found and had good luck with honest description on condition.

There are two sites that search multiple book listing services on-line.
www.bookfinder.com
www.addall.com
You could also try a PM to me for help finding a scarce book.
Prices are usually lower in Canada than some of the US high priced hopers. Postage in Canada is higher though.
