i wonder about that. so the guy saws off the antlers and goes home. an anti-hunter finds them while of picking mushrooms and writes to the province newspaper : Two Deer Killed for their horns and left to waste in the forest.

granola - "look bob the damn hunters shot both of these deer in the head (cause that's where the icky blood is) and left the meat to waste"!

what do you think?

How did they die? They look nice and healthy and usually when you see this with deer they die a slow death wasting away or look really roughed up...

The last picture looks like there's blood coming from the arse. I can't tell from the pictures that were taken, I don't see any other trauma to the deer. Exfixiation would be my guess for cause of death. Like you said they look healthy.

They die of fright and they also starve to death after a short time when there antlers are locked together ,hunter 47.

Eventually they would Both become exhausted from the struggle.....one usually gives up 1st(weaker of the 2)....the other one shortly after.

Stress and shock would finish them off long before they starved :-(

I know a fella that found 2 small Muleys locked up, they were both lying on the ground and didn't move at all when he walked up and untangled them...I remember he commented that it didn't take too much to untangle the racks, just a couple yanks in the right direction...he said they both staggered away in opposite directions shortly after they were "freed"
He doubted that they would live.....I guess they looked pretty rough:|

Asphyxiation is death by lack of oxygen, so unlikely the cause of death. My guess would be they died from thirst. A mammal can only live a couple of days without water (or some source of hydration), but months without food.

Exactly.......that's why I don't Join the Bleeding Hearts crowd when they Preach about "Shooting" injured animals because they don't want them to suffer......:|
Any animal has a Chance to recover from nearly anything.....tough to recover from a Bullet in the Lungs though, that pretty much removes any chance for a recovery.
