Hunting around brooks alberta

Going to try a hunt around brooks Alberta for pheasant and Huns next year hunted around drumheller Alberta last year saw a lot of Huns but the pheasant hunting was not that good if anyone has hunted the area that can help with some info like how the bird hunting is or does a guy have to go travel a little more.

The Alberta Conservation Association also post sites that are open the public. Depending on what time in October you go be prepared. Brooks area got snow in the last few weeks of October last year and that made hunting definitely more challenging. Good news is that there are countless places to hunt in Southern Alberta, so I would also say to look to areas outside of Brooks too, such as Taber and Raymond for instance.

Go west of Brooks on the highways, 539/531/534, towards Vulcan and then Nanton (where I used to live). That entire area is bird country. Mostly private land of course, but you are good on the gravel roads with a shotgun (as long as it's not single projectile). Ditches/hedgerows and low scrub are best. Soon as you cross a fence, though, you're trespassing and poaching if you don't have the landowners permission. You might also want to look online for a crown lands map of Alberta and read up on recreational useage (especially on grazing leases, etc.)

Thanks for the info guys just trying to learn so new areas as its real big country out there found some nice areas for huns last year and did get some pheasant but cant wait to go back.

We used to live and hunt out of Taber, Huns you will find in the corner of the fields where they tranfer grain from machine to trucks, especially if the weather is cold. Pheasants, dont overlook wetland areas, cattails etc are great.

Anywhere from Brooks, through the Hays maze and down to Taber and points east would do fine.
