great day on the trapline

Well I couldn't believe another trapping season has come to a close for me , and what a day it was . Hammerhead ,my son and myself left early up to the trapline and pull all the traps hopeing to pick up a few more cats for the season .The sun was out ,skies were blue and only 6 below ,it doesn't get much better than that. In the next 10 traps another 2 lynx and we have only gone 14 km http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g448/trapman604/11-4CF4A62B-1674437-960-100_zps11a69399.jpgand than into the next valley and a bobcat is waiting in the first trap down by the creek .Hammerhead had to be home for a family dinner so we had no time to waste .By noon we had two more lynx and it seemed like the best day on the line ever .well another 10 miles and another lynx and bobcat .Starting to feel great .

Thats crazy, good last haul for sure. What do you think those will fetch the trapper at market?

With warm temperatures how many have green belly, and how often do you check your traps?

hunter1947 one female lynx and one bobcat all others were male .Hillbilly I have only ever had one green belly and that was on my old line in Pemperton .I try to keep the trap elevated and short wires when I can so the cats are off the ground .After a while on a line it is easier to fine female home turf ,I place most of my traps between these areas .To target the male that are roaming around .By no means is this a normal hall 0 to 4 cats is the avarage. Traps are checked 7 to 10 days

A lot of trappers have been saying lynx numbers are up this year do to high rabbit numbers. Are you seeing the same on your line?

tracks are every where and 3 times the normal rabbits . In four of the sets the cat had been in the traps for a number of days and there were new tracks right up to the box ,one had 5 diffrent tracks all sence the trap was set off

Wow nice haul Glen ! The little cats (lynx and bob toms) will be walking steady now, more so than before, with their rut starting up.

Blacktail stolker if you are looking to run some cats ,let me know .We saw 5to 7 nice sets of lynx ,2 or 3 of bobcat and 2 cougar .All the lynx were large ,one bob and one cougar were good .There is a good crust on the snow with 2 inches of soft stuff on top

Holly got some skinin now!! Do you snare your cats trapman? Leg holds, 330's? I skipped out this winter, lookin like I should have done some, a lot of lynx around here this winter also, hardly anything for marten sign tho.

moose63 I have my own line and friend has the one beside mine,jives me a big area . Decker ya lots of skicing and they are coverd in flees this year .Only us 330 's with boxes and duck as bait
