Just watched Craig Boddington catch a big gator in Florida. They hook them with bait, bring them up to the surface and then harpoon them with a crossbow:mrgreen:

That was one pissed off gator! Wouldn't want them chomping on you!:-D

I saw that aswell. I don't know why they didn't just pop the gator with a bullet and finish the job quick. I turned it off after that.

I've been looking into a gator hunt down there.
It's basically 10k for a goodun' + travel expenses + taxi costs.

A nice 12 footer would feed us well and it would look AWESOME suspended from the ceiling, swimming in mid air.

Been there and done that. Not quite as expensive as Mr.Dean says. Depends really on how big a gator you want. Check out H and H gator hunts out of Melbourne Florida.
Hunting them at night with an air boat and harpoon was a blast.

11' 4" I took mine with a rifle, but as John above showed you, he harpooned his. No bait, just go out on the boat and float along in the dark...Prettttttty fun!

Nice gator, Tanya.
Thanks for the contact (both you and John) but I've moved on and spent the $$$ on a track set for my Jeep.

When the day comes that I have coin saved (again), I now think I might just buy a hide and keep the hunting end of things within BC.
Frankly, I just have too much fun playing in our own backyard and have a hard time leaving what we have here.

Too many choices.
Too limited a budget.

It's old news and I've had a thread running on about it for 5 or 6 years, from concept to conception.
Finally bit the bullet and rigged it up last November.

my best friend has gone 2 years in a row. total cost per hunt was 4500 with 1000 being for the non res tag. the hunts were on public land on lake george...which is a big lake not like some of the farm ponds you see on the outdoor channel. first year he shot on 10 6 and the next 10 9 both this his bow...no bait just cruising in an airboat. He cant say enough about how fun it is and wants me to go but do it on our own now that he knows what hes doing. maybe some summer ill do it. I kinda like earmarking my money for BC hunts with my bro but we will see.
