Looks like a regular mature coyote to me, photo taken from ground level to make it appear larger.

Not saying it doesn't happen but all coyote/wolf interactions I've seen and heard of ended in the coyote being ripped to shreds and sometimes becoming a meal.

Yeah I find it hard to believe that a wolf would do anything with a coyote other than kill it.

That article talks about shared traits and interbreeding theories etc. I wonder if there are any genetic tests that prove or disprove this? I say they shoot a few and find out ;)

They have coywolves in Nova Scotia. They are up and over the 60LB range. They are looseing their foxxes much like we have when the coyotes came and pushed them out. My great uncle had trapped over 120 yotes in one season back there. Back in the early eighties there were no coyotes back there. http://www.easterncoyoteresearch.com/

I grew up in Nova Scotia and lived in the countryside. Spent hours playing in the woods when I was little and I never heard let alone saw a coyote. we did see lots of red foxes. But then I came to BC in the early 70's. We did have a cougar hanging around but the wildlife people said there were no cougars in Nova Scotia, they were wrong.
there has been genetic testing on Eastern coyotes and they are carrying the Eastern red Wold genes. They are quite a bit bigger than our Western coyotes.

I was an RCAF brat so born in Summerside PEI then to Comox, then to Ottawa but then Nova Scotia for all my schooling so I call it home. Grew up on Porters Lake, 5 minutes from Lawrencetown Beach.
