After 50 years of hunting, I finally bagged this lynx with my .22 Ruger!
Also saw 3 wood bison, 5 boreal caribou, 1 moose, and a second lynx on the same day...

First of all, thanks everyone for your positive comments!
Many requests for a story...
Well believe it or not, I was indeed actually lynx hunting. Drove up and down the Fontas Rd. to the Ring Border. Slowed way down in areas that were heavy with rabbit tracks and/or lynx tracks (the two usually go together). Looked, glassed, and even tried calling with a predator call. Passed up the first one we saw - looked very small! The second one wasn't so lucky. It ran off into the bush and I followed it. Hard going for an old guy; can't walk on top of the snow like a lynx can. Spotted it, took a rest on a convenient tree, shot it with the .22 Ruger. End of story...

Yup, that's officially a hunt!
Congrats.
Whats your thoughts; did the cats respond to your call?

Now that's a beauty for sure! And to think you passed up one earlier in the day. Most people never see a lynx in their lifetime. Of the 3 cat species here in BC, they are the prettiest I think. Congrats!!!
