I was just wondering if anybody ever gets moose mounts done you always see people posting there deer etc but I don't think I've seen a moose mount done, probably something to do with the amount of space it'd need to be hung I would imagine?

Big MOOSE shoulder mounts are very impressive! But not for every house.

1998-ish,My new bride at the time, let me get this one done.51 inch bull from Gaspard Lake area, long fronts,
sticks out 53 inches from the wall to farthest tip of antler,...so you really notice it in the room!I love it though, great memory of the hunt,stalk,shot.20 minutes after this bull,my wife dropped her 1st!

My 2012 moose is at the taxidermist for a full shoulder mount. I will post pictures when it is done. I am not sure where I am going to put it yet, it will go over the tv, bed or where ever it fits. I am paying a bit extra to have the antlers detachable so it will fit in my place without any hassels. I only have 8' walls so I am getting a sneak mount pose so the antlers won't stick up quite so high.

If you put that thing over the bed you can forget any crazy manouvers in the bedroom.

With only 8' ceilings, it will always be a threesome.

Moose shoulder mounts are huge and expensive. Not every house can fit one properly. I think the best place for them are at the top of stairs or on a wall beside stairs- somewhere with lots of head room. Even the Euros are big. I'd have nowhere to put one inside my house. Probably why we see so many moose antlers nailed above garage doors. :)

Only ever shot one Biggie Moose. In my youthful zeal, I thought the Bigger the Better, and so was damn Proud of knocking over the largest on one particular hunt. Went over 58" wide, and yup, did have him shoulder mounted. Couldn't even get it in the door of the house we lived in back than... LOL! Ended up "migrating" to Idaho to take up a prominent position in Pa's 14 foot ceiling "Game Room" (which is more like a bloody museum than a game room!). Over the years quite a few of my "Best" have ended up in that same room - Kudu, my best whitetails, two best sheep, and more. Now with around 150 heads and hides, his "Game Room" is finally starting to get sort of full.

Going to have to retrieve them some day, but methinks we'll be seeking a MUCH Larger place (or addition) before doing so...

Oh, and after chewing down for two years on that Beast of a moose, I've never shot another "big one" again!! Nor do I plan on doing so ever again. A thousand pounds of boot leather simply ain't my idea of Fine Eatin'...

Cheers,
Nog

My plans are to collect heads until I have no more room ( 5 to 10 years ). Then I would like to get a modest home built on property, designed for accomadating all the trophies. It will look a bit cramped for a while, but those are my plans. Hey Iron Nog I am with Rodd on that one any pictures of the game/trophy room.

I never had one done but I know that they do vary.
You'll need to call around and then go see some examples from the guys that you're considering.

I had a pic of an island monster bull elk but for some reason it's eluding me....

The antlers weren't detachable and I remember the PITA it was getting into my studio for shooting.
How it got into the owners house is beyond me....

Yup, Elk and Moose take up a lot of room . My old Man Cave:

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj313/Heliox18/DSC01895.jpg

You can barely see my only BC Moose on the other side of the Elk above. It's a decent Shiraz Moose (yeah, I said it, so what? :D )

elk mounts make impressive center pieces for a trophy room- very big and beautiful! Moose would also go very nice as well.
-dont think 8 foot walls would work very well tho- need them high ceilings to look the best.
- maybe one day ill dream bout my own place with 12+ foot walls :)

Used to work with a German bachelor who went moose hunting only once. Shot a monster and had it shoulder mounted. Used to drive by his little house and the sucker literally took up half the length of his living room. But then he joined a dating service, hitched up with a Japanese girl, married her, and pretty soon no more moose. Often wonder what happened to it ...

2009 Region 3-18 LEH Bull (November Draw). Worked my ass off for the month in -20 degree weather. The memories were WAY to good not to have this guy mounted. Not a trophy bull by any means .... but a bunch of trophy memories.
