Ahhh,the winter doldrums!
Me n bro did a fly in couple years ago,his first,I always wanted to go to this spot and never did,sooooo,,,,,,
Arrived n set up,went out for a scout on the terrain ,ready for first light.Me lookin for a decent caribou,bro for anything ,hahaha!Next day,heavy packs n off we go.Hike and glass, hike and glass,hike,glass,,,,,,standard,,,not much seen,few bou,sow grizzly with 2 punks in tow.Plans to spike and hike for the 3rd day.Well,sure as shat,,,8 km's later almost there and I spot a nice bou doin a typical bou thing starin at us from behind a ridge.Quik scope and boom!Was all by himself,weird.After the pics n formalities,we went n set up camp,returned and packed meat and cape down to a small bank of snow,perfect!Next couple days we hiked around tryin to find some rams,with little seen.So time to take care of the bou,,,,,with heavy packs and sore backs we stumbled back to base camp.
After a couple "easy" days of glassin we headed out again in a different direction,spike camp plans again.Passed on a sow grizzly,bro had a tag,then up into the pass we went.After a while of cardiac arresting,,,bro spots a sheep but faaaaar away!Quick spotter check and,,,,,,theres 2,,ones thin and young and the other is def worth a good investigation!!!!!Through the pass and down into the other valley,,,,we get a good look at them,,,,,ones def mature,so we dump our gear and up we go!!!!!
Up the back of the ridge,,,,gonna come from the side and around,one foot in front of the other,,,up up up!Winds strong and cold,but perfect!dump our packs,crawl,sneak,peak and up come the binos!,,,,,,theyve bedded down,,perfect!
Well hes right on the nose,gut says he makes it ,,,,buuuut,,,,def mature,,spotter 's out,,
2 hours later and crampin up in the cold wind,,,Im positive! 10 1/2,,,Bro get ready,When he stands,shoot him,,
range finder says 240,,,wait till he stands,,,hahahahha,,,,nuther 1/2 hour goes byyyyy,,,,he stands,,,,,SHOOT HIM!
BOOM! aaand a miss!!!! Second shot puts him down!!!!!! YES! Bro's first ram!!!!What a lucky bassturd,first sheep and first fly in hunt to boot!
