Dad and I have been having a great season so far, sad to think it ends so soon! I thought I'd share todays hunt on our duck hunting fields with you guys as I think we got a very nice bag. Todays goal was patience to kill em' CLOSE.. we took all of our shots within 20 yards to make clean kills, and let them pass by if they were any further to not wise them up.
Well to simply put it, everything worked as planned. We had a great hides and had a good number of birds working the deeks. Took all our shots from 5-20 yards, either batting them down while they were hovering the deeks, or "LP1-ing" them and poppin their heads while they were sitting on the water/ground.
I had 6 drake mallards when a bunch of pinnies started working the spread, GREAT! First shot at killing my first sprig of the season.. I let them circle, and circle, and circle (X10) when FINALLY, they popped right into the deeks not more than 15 yards infront. BOOM, BOOM.. pulled off a double on sprigs to finish my day! (:
Dad also shot real nice bag out of his blind, he managed his 8 mallards and had some great shooting aswell! I must say, these northerners sure are chunky!!
Here are my sprigs, firsts of the season! I am in search of a wall hanger, but these guys ended up being meat birds, I am still in search of a big boy.

Here was my bag for the day, I was very excited, felt more like a trophy-meat hunt.. a little challenge is always good! (: 6 drake mallards and 2 drake pintails. First ever drake limit for me!

And heres the whole bag for the day.. 10 drake mallards, 4 hen mallards, and 2 sprigs.
