ive caught lots around gelletly and green bay on the westside. they are everywhere in the lake in spring and summer as soon as the lake begins to warm up. I usually go out to duck lake when they are spawning in the south end and smash them alllll day with the bow.

You can find old bows for pretty cheap. My other setup was $80 for the bow and $110 for the reel/arrow combo.

There's loads of them in Rotary Marsh right beside those condos!! Some frigg'n bleeding hearts would probably get you on the news again like we were goose hunt'n!
So now you wish you bought my old bow when I got your crossbow? :-D Would Honey retrieve them for you? Talk to the guys at Trout Waters, they got serious ideas about any kind of fish'n.
Good luck!

Ive also caught a bunch off of the bridge on Pritchard drive. They would make a circuit of the channel when they came in and would give you 2 separate chances to catch them. I always used a small #10 hook with a ball of hand dug worms with 1 or 2 small split shots above it. There are some BIG carp in OK lake. Sight fishing them along the beach is also pretty fun. I would recommend a good set of polarized sun glasses.

seen some good 3 and 4 footers out by the log booms on the west side by bear creek honest 30 lb'ers for sure. as knock says though ,by far the most fun is south end of duck lake as it starts flooding the south end ,late april to mid may and doin it with a bow.

Apologize for the ignorance in Carp fishing but do people eat them things or are they just garbage fish?

Thank you for the insight. Knew that they were invasive but didn't know if they had any culinary appeal.

If you take them home and feed them oatmeal in the bathtub they clean out a bit...other than make sure when you catch/shoot one you stab them in the back of the head and bleed them out good.....

I also go off the logbooms for them. That's some serious spot and stalk hunting. I probably put on 5km every time I'm out there walking all over the booms. I get a bunch of suckers and the odd squaw fish in there as well.

easily 30 lbs.
them buggers are thick.
i've seen some that i'd almost be scared to hook into.
i'm guessing 30-50 lbs.
i know a dock system where there's a pile of them.
they'd easily bust my rod going under the dock i'm sure.

on real hot summer days you can find them sunning themselves on the surface.
saw a couple on nicola this year flopping their fins and tail out of the water.
almost coasted the boat close enough to net him.
but man you could see the power in it when it spooked and powered down to the depths.
someone told me that they're just a powerful pull for the first bit then they kinda give up.
is that true?

That's not my video. I grabbed it from Wally's Vimeo page. He's friends with Amphibious. I was having some beers at a friends place and met him(Wally) and he invited me out with them this summer. I don't think I can pass that up!

As for carp on a rod, they fight like crazy!

be careful if you see one in a pawn shop.
i think they are like bows and should not be dry-fired.

i would tie on a # 8-12 with at least a 2x heavy hook. you will have a great fight with a fly rod. 5 weight will take a while, especially with a 15+ pound carp.
