Well I started my Monday morning like no different week. Fuel up the sled, grab the 223 and throw in a fresh dip of skoal. I started my venture around our property (350 acres) looking for any cats or dogs. About 5 minutes into the trip I found an injured calf ( year old) moose. It would appear like she was trying to get up a steep hill and slipped.this was not a pretty sight. My prognosis was a dislocated hip. She tried over and over again to get up but no attempt was close to being successful. I left the scene to allow her to calm down and rest and get up and hopefully walk away. About 2 hours I returned to the area and she lay there helplessly. I left again. By this point I am sick to my stomach watching her in pain. Morally I wanted to end the struggle but ethicly the law prohibits calf moose being shot in January haha. I waited a few hours and returned. By this point it appeared as If she'd given up...... Laying there helplessly groaning ( calling all predators .... Which my property supports a healthy population) I decided to call the CO and talk with them. The CO said shed be right over. 20 minutes later she arrived and I brought her to the location. She felt the animal wouldn't survive and asked me to put the animal out of its misery. Not 2 minutes after pulling the trigger she gave me all the paper work and gave me rights to the meat!!! Upon skinning I was able to confirm the dislocated hip. One phone call later to a surprised butcher..... And I got 208 pounds of meat hanging
if someone sends a pm with there email I will send pics!

So, Camo Buddy!!! I guess by now one of the Mod's has sent you a PM explaining that in the HBC rule book, if and when, ANY Member get's a Legal Calf Moose in January, the Party's at there Place!!! So, maybe let us know when your picking the Calf up and we can all be sitting around your Bar Ba Que when you get home! Not real sure on how may members there are here, rough guess I'd think you can expect about 6 or 700 guys, your going to want to stop at Costco and pickup the salads and fresh dinner buns! Not sure where's about you live, but even if it's a little chilly out, I'm sure a few of the Boys will have a chainsaw or two, we'll get them to drop a few tree's around your yard, and maybe a few of your neighbors tree's to boot for the Bomb fire! Lots of us are really looking forward to this Shin Dig, so if possible don't cheap out on the booze, and NO paper plates ! "Lets Do It"!!!
