View Full Version : First Shed Antler for 2013 ( a strange moose )

I found this moose shed yesterday at the road side in farm country. He must have dropped it going to or coming from a feeding area they were using. It was not broken in anyway and grew like this. It is one of the strangest I have found. It had a single spike that appears to be the front and the back is all crazy with a couple complete holes and a few lumps and bumps. It would have been a legal spike fork with medium bases.

thats prety cool, could be worth something. people like to buy wierd antlers.

neat piece of bone......would make a good lamp base or other perhaps part of a chandeliere

I donated it to the HBC big game contest as a prize. Hopefully the winner will find a use for it.

cool,, could have been damaged when in velvet there soft and offten band them on something and this happens,,, neat rack thoe,,,put it on your wall,,,

It's often an indication of a hind foot injury/problem on the opposite side .....

I agree. Probably broke in early summer and the flys layed eggs in it. Pretty cool find!

Very nice find! That is one lucky moose it would have been a big immy.
