what do you use while hunting to stay in contact with fellow hunters, is there a combination of text radio GPS that I need to have? I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what they use or what they wished they had

thanks

I use the Garmin GPS\radio (Rino) combination. You can track your partners location.

I bought a pair of these three years ago. They have worked well for me because: they have a number of channels so that you can find a quiet one, they have enough options so that you can have a silent or non-silent mode, and they have good range.

I bought these at the Cabelas in Lacey and brought them back. On close inspection I realized that they were 5 watts instead of the lower power Canadian ones. I think the wattage is what gives them better range than most others of that type that I have been around. The only downside I have experienced is that others can still hear you but you cannot hear them with their lower wattage versions on the same channel until they get closer.

But if you looking to be able to send texts and such, like if you lost in the woods or need to tell your wife your ok... you will need to look into delorme products. 2 - way satellite messaging.
