A have couple of 4 or 5 pound Rainbows and a few similar Brookies from One Island lake, I guess that's "kinda lucky" ?

probably much luckier than the guy a couple weeks ago at One Island lake,, had his fairly new pic-up truck go to the bottom,,,, in about 30 feet of water, :?

I like to ice fish at Yellow Lake and Shannon Lake.

Does anyone know if there are ice fishermen fishing on Yellow Lake, yet?

Coach, that cracked me up, too funny! And rocksteady, put buckleys labels on your beer, and you'll have all the sympathy you could ever want when chugging one back at 7am.

I've never had any luck ice fishing, have attempted it two or three times in the past without any success, but have never had pointers from anyone that knows what they are doing either.

you'd be fishing from shore on shannon, south end of the lake is iced over but you might be able to get to the water at the end of the path at the northeast side

It is a good place to take the kids ice fishing for perch. LOTS !!!
Caught my biggest bass out of there too.

And with the annual "family fishing day" the release a lot of trout.
After that is over the en closer is removed so that lake is now getting a good trout population.
I have even heard of one being caught at 12lbs.
It must be true...fisherman NEVER lie !!!

Sparke, not sure if your allowed to use minnows, but I always use lower mainland dew worms with success. Do you have a a ice tent, it sure makes a difference in fishing. Many of the people that stay with me also use leachs(Flys) they tie them so when they drop them in the water the fly(leach) is vertical , and they give a little jiggle. Id also focus on small jigs over power baits, I just don't get much luck with power baits?

Where are you staying?

Using minnows as bait is ILLEGAL. It may sound trivial, but the use of minnows as bait is responsible for the introduction of invasive species of minnows and the ultimate loss of lakes. Redside shiners have ended up in many lakes. Shiners population explodes, offspring outcompete trout/native species, and the lake has to be poisoned with rotenone (if land locked lake). If it isn't a land locked lake, then there basically isn't any way to get rid of invasive species like shiners...

Worms, Powerbait and deli shrimp chunks work well. Powerbait floats, so it stays off the bottom. Shrimp are nice because you can buy them in any grocery store.

Being that I caught those fish and took that photo with my Phone I am going to say it's more along the lines of magic!
