9.7 small deduction for the offset front forks but almost a perfect 10.

Beauty. A bit off for the front passenger fork, decent tine length but not super girthy bases. Low 170s?

Brambles is right on the mark. I was going to say 187, he'd have gone 190ish if his fronts where identicle to the strong side. I'll guess 186 5/8 for a final score.

Had to edit this, cause: Hell of nice deer! Congrats to the hunter... any storey?

Just because he's got no brows doesn't mean you don't get 4 mass measurements, you just get the first measurement twice if he's got no browtines. You always get 4 mass measurements, no more , no less.

Thanks Brambles never new that http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon11.png I was told that with no guard you only get one measurement thats what I was told by a buddy that scored my black tail set of antlers from the island the antlers scored at 97 points if this is the case then this set of antlers will make the island book with two measurements at the base ,,, I will get the antlers scored from a official scorer ,,,goes to show you learn something every day..

Hey Wayne, If you go down to section "H" regarding circumfrences you'll see it addresses the lack of brow points and taking H1 and H2 at the same narrowest place on the mainbeam between the burr and the G2

Not everyone needs the head....
i woulda, simply cause I have enough things to spend $$$ on already without paying anything to harvest beyond any butchering.

sometimes you dont know if its going to make the book in the field. or he could have shot it in the throat and blew a big hole. beauty buck regardless. and not everyone gets deer that size mounted.

If you look very close I think you can see brow tines, but whatever. Pictures can be deceiving, but there would be no hesitation on that big guy. My guess is high 170s, maybe 180 gross

Mid 178-180 gross and net in mid to high 160's.

Tough to call with no head / body to reference.
If I was calling that in-field, I'd say "Won't break 180".

Nice Buck - A Shooter for most.

I'm on the same page as few guys.
On the other hand I think some guys are way too high........all due respect.
Having said that, this wonderful buck should throw up something in the mid to upper 170's.
An "honest" 28" buck is a hell of a spread.
This is just a great looking set of antlers.

28 inches wide is impressive, but you only get credit for the length of the longest main beam.

179 gross 173 net
Uneven tines and front are short, deduct at least 6 inches off, won't make BC book minimum.
Jel .. too uneven for trophy class .. check each tine length compared to it's match on the other side.
Front tines are only five inches long on one bank. Need an even ten on all to make book.
It's not 28 inches wide either sorry, or I'm whistling dixy try 25 and a half inches is the real deal.

I guess because I do my own euro skulls and my own butchering I wouldn't look at it as a cost.

I believe he is quoting 28 inch outside spread.

The inside spread credit may equal but not exceed the longest main beam length. For example, if the inside spread is 20 inches, and the longer of the two main beams is 18 inches, then 18 inches is used as the inside spread credit. However, these two measurements will usually be within an inch or so of each other

Dixy, I am sure he is refering that it is an outside spread of 28" not the inside that is for scoring.
Jel is close on the score....foooo surh.

If this buck could read what was thought of him, he would have offed himself long before he was shot... and at least 5 people on this thread would have got buck fever and missed this buck and cried about it on HBC !

Looks like a great buck! Even better, it looks as if maybe it was part of an awesome day out with the kids. I'd rather hear that story than debate where the deer may or may not fit in the record books.

What's the story, Trapman?
