I made a PVC deer feeder and put it up last week. Checked it today. It was empty and I had 279 pics on the camera. Filled it up with cob and put out the other one I made yesterday, in another location. See what next week brings.

On the tree.

I made mine out of abs, same style... Cheap, easy to make, indestructible and if someone steals it your not out much.. Helps if you know a guy who works at a plumbing or building supply place that will put aside damaged pipe for you... Forklift operators are reckless, but get me some free goodies. :)

Yes, I'm a tech-wizz. That cam said "2008" for most of the year and when I finally fixed that, I jumped ahead a month. :? It has a remote and I forget to take it with me to make the correction.

Any pic's of the moose eatin out of it or is it too small for a moose to get anything out of it?

good job.

i think it'll last only until the first bear stumbles upon one.
gotta think they'd be ripping it apart.

one of these would sure help me zero in on that big buck that out-smarted me this year.

Yep, you have to wait until they go to bed and quit before they wake up.

that's what i was thinking.
it would be cool to use a timer to release the food.
or hold it back over the evenings.
get the deer used to having to come to it during light hours.

I have a Moultrie feeder that is timed and feeds up to four times a day. The deer still seem to set the schedule. But the grouse love it.

Looks like the deer saliva trasfer tube has been perfected.

Man, I sure hope you guys don't get CWD or one of the many other infectious ungulate diseases in the area.

B.C. needs to thank those mountains, they have kept the area relatively disease free, for now.

I like this is a very smart creative piece of art you did ,,,,,stops the ravens from coming in and taking the feed ,,,this idea of yours I will have to try next year ,,the only thing I would change is to put a cross at the bottom with two 45s angling up wards then you can get two deer feeding at the same time,,,,,thanks for posting your new invention..

Nicely designed and built, but I thought all of Canada was supposed to be all about fair chase or are we starting to hunt like the Americans, where they don't really hunt, they lure and shoot. Hell, anybody can do that. Nice feeder, but I will hunt like I was taught, spot and stalk and what happens , happens.

Fair chase!? Do you hunt with a rifle? Scoped and capable of killing an animal at several hundred yards. Fair chase, sure Mr Ethical.

And if you read the post you'd have noticed that the feeder was put up AFTER the season closed.

great idea! i like it, hopefully raccoons dont get into it maybe a spike belt around the bottom of the tree might solve that if you do get a problem raccon.

how's it any different than putting gobs of bait down on the bottom to lure in and catch a sturgeon.
may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's not illegal.
i hate road-hunting, but these days that's what the majority of guy's in the bush are doing.
or how about throwing decoys all around you to lure in ducks.
same shit, different pile.

there seems to be some controversy about feeding corn
farmanddairy.com/columns/feeding-deer-corn-is-not-the-best-thing-to-do/14293.html

Does your COB have molasses or not ? I thought w/molasses would be a better feed but deer seem fussy about it.

Those deer can eat a 50lbs of feed in no time I have a few feeders that are similar to yours and they empty them less than two days. Get some salt blocks! I have a red and blue one and they seem to really like the red over the blue.
