100 mile, sheridan lake, bridge lake really good for grouse this year. I've found personally that once you find a good grouse spot they seem to be there every year.

Beyween Ashcroft and savona is decent aling the logging roads as well.

skagit valley has some, but you have to get off the road and hike the man trails.

Good grouse usually equals good deer. Seen more willows this year around C.R. Lots of sharptail in region 5, they are super spooky though. Still the grouse numbers seem down in region 5. I wonder how the high wolf population affects the grouse. I heard from an outfitter that the wolf were eating up all the ground squirls in certain valley...

I truly believe, good grouse pop, good deer pop.

To many people I think forget what good grouse hunting was, 20 years ago in region 3 you would average 28 grouse a day seen, and usually have a 15 count limit before lunch (I would usually stop at 8-10). Between me walking and my dad road hunting a normal day was usually 50+ grouse seen. Now in all regions people think if they see 6 grouse a day they are in a great area. When you can walk and spook/spot more deer then grouse its not a good sign. The grouse have been in a steady decline for years all over BC. The last time I saw 30 grouse in a day I think was 8 year ago just south of Mckenzie. I think this season hunting all over region 3 and 5, walking/driving/ATV'ing with at least 4 guys in the field we would see about 10 a day between 4 hunters. I saw more moose in region 5 then grouse when I was in Sheridan for a week.

That said, Princeton had the best opening weekend. Averaged about 12 a day seen for the first few weekends, then back to 3-6 like everywhere else.
