I have not fished in Chilliwack-Vedder river derby for over 16 years. I will be fishing for steelhead when the duck season is over next year....Jan.18. Good luck in the derby.

since cars have been targeted by vandals and theifs have hit them up i have stayed away from the vedder .... thinking about going back and bringing my bow and taking shifts with a buddy watching the truck from a tree stand ....:-D

Has that happened this year? I know in the past it's been a problem but I haven't heard of any incidents this year.

Usually it happens during salmon season and usually only to american plates for some reason. I havent had much bad luck over the years but i usually head to places where im parking and fishing alone.

It's probably some of the local douche bags trying to keep "outsiders" off "their river". I'm like you fishingguy, I like my space and my solitude. I have a spot that I found this year that I've never seen more than 2 other guys at.

No problem, call Freds tackle for info, the derby may not be the place to start however, steelheading is a bit more than just fishing for trout. took me a couple seasons to get dialed in. the water can be high and cold aswell so maybe find a buddy to take you out the first couple times.

If you are looking to get into steelheading I would suggest looking into the "float fishing for steelhead" course put on by Peter Macpherson. It's $175 I believe and it's 3 hr in class and 4 hr on water. I did it last year and I was great it help me out a lot. You can call Fred's or go on there website.
