Hey everyone.
After getting my Muley in region 5 earlier this year, I was starting to wonder if I was going to be able to get a whitetail before the season ended. I thought I would try a new place that was down low. I had tried up in the hills the last few outings with no luck. As soon as I get out of the truck, I see there was a group of big deer that just moved past this area. After following the tracks for about 100 yards, I decided to try my luck calling a buck out into the open. Ive never had any success calling in deer... until now. About 5 minutes after I did my first doe bleet I see a deer pop up about 150 yards away, looking right in my direction. As spoon as it turned, I knew it was a buck. I watched this deer come right toward me, noes to the ground, looking for that doe. At about 50 yards he finally turned and gave me a broadside shot and got him right in the boiler room. He ran about 50 yards and got cought up in some trees and thats where I found him. Ill post a link to the short video clip I took after I found him. What a great first whitetail and a great way to end Hunting 2012!
I hope you all had a great season and I look forward to the next!

I just scored the antlers at 88 2/8" with 4" brow tines! The right beam looks like an inch or 2 broke off, but still a decent score.

Just weighed it, 118lbs! This is my biggest deer yet, mainly because ive only been hunting for a few years and spent most of that time on Vancouver Island. Thanks for all the comments!

Check your scoring sheet, you may have missed a measurement or two. it seems low, or is it just me? Regardless what he scores, Congrats!

Ya I thought it would be a bit bigger too. I just put all the numbers back into the Boone and Crocket calculator, and it was the same. Ive only scored 2 sets of antlers, so I might be doing it all wrong. I think because the beams are only about 14 inches long. The left beam is broken off at the end, which may have added an inch or 2.
on the Boone and Crockett calculator, they have a "deductions" spot. Does anyone know what that means? or why inches are deducted? it deducted 2inches off this score

it compares side to side for differences to calculate the net score. After taking another look at the video i put some estimated numbers down to what i would have guessed it to be and came up with 92, so you're likely right about the score.

Congrats! And yep, looks like about a 90" deer or so. Good stuff and a great way to finish the season.
