first moose

After a long cold quad ride to the back country we spotted a moose in the spotting scope about 3 km away, we desided to head for it and see what happens. after crossing a small river and doin some bush wacking we got within 1.5 km and proceded on foot. we snuck up to a little bluff and started to call, attracting 3 or 4 bulls before we spotted this guy at the top tree line 800 yards away. we knew he was the one we wanted, about 45 mins later we had him at 350 yards but he was in a bad place to get to... we knew he had to come threw the next tree line in order to get it out in one day. another 30 minutes later and some super loud cow calls(to account for the wind) he came threw the bottom tree line, he was facing directly towards us not presenting us with a good shot. after about a min of him looking for the "cow" he got worryed and headed for the bush, as soon as he turned brod side to head for the tree line i squeezed off a shot with my dads 338 win mag and could hear the smack when the 250 gr nosler partition hit his lungs. he stagerd and fell as we hoot and hollerd. by 1 am we were back at the truck, a great day.
