The whitetail season is well upon us in the Peace. I know it started back in September, but I still don't get too excited about it until November roles around.

For those up in this area in search of whitetails, wonder if you are experiencing the same as me? Numbers seem a bit better then last year, but nothing what it was just a few short years ago. Though numbers seem to be better then last year in the areas I hunt, the number of mature bucks is still way down in my experience.

This year, I thought I would try a new spot in addition to my regular areas. That turned into a dud. There was a doe and fawn living there, and a small 4 point buck.

I still haven't seen "the one". Although, there are a couple I would consider pulling the trigger on.

I've been inspire to share some of the better deer my trail cam pictures have shown. Hope you enjoy!

Here are a couple up and comers hopefully for future years:

A number of coworkers figure I should take this guy if given the opportunity, but I haven't layed eyes on him yet. Although, I still think he has some growing to do if he can make it through the winter.

I have seen this guy now a couple times. Been tempted, but have held off. He looked better in person at first light, and hopefully I didn't make a mistake, lol.

In reality, this guy here seems like the most mature buck I have on camera, but he is only a 4 pointer. Not sure if I will have a chance at him as he hasn't been by my camera now since Nov 8th. Maybe some lucky hunter got him, or maybe (hopefully) he found some does somewhere and might come back. I actaully have pics of this guy from last year and the year before, and he's grown nicely. But, i think he is destined to stay as a 4 pointer.

And then there is this guy. Unfortunately, not on my trail camera, but my partners. Hopefully he scores on him, or I'm secretly hoping he comes by my stand which is only a few miles away. Funny enough, this guy has been at my stand site the last 3 seasons. This year, he seems to have wondered over to my pertners. But either way, he's a mature buck and with the help of my partners camera, I now have 4 years of pictures of him. He's always had those long brows.

Great pics, the one you passed seems to be very heavy bodied, great looking buck that last one. What kind of cam are you using? I like the temp reading and moon phase inclusions.

A good but I'd pass him, he's got potential. He only have decent tine length and lack: mass, width and beam length. A year or two will most likely make a big difference. Best of luck and stay warm!!!

Best of luck and stay warm!!!

Yes, staying warm looks like it will be key. Thanks goodness for heaters!

I use Moultrie trail cameras. Personally I have had great luck with them. I typically get about 10,000 pictures a season, and some of my cameras are on their 5th season now.

Look at the body on him!

I know, that body is something! I'm thinking he is at least 6 years old now and likely in his prime. I'm guessing his horns will look bigger in person.

Awesome pictures Rob, never get tired of seeing them!

Thanks Kyle! Next weekend will be my last chance to hunt, so hopefully get something. If I can't get one of the bigger ones, I will consider taking one that is stuck as a 4 pointer. My one stand is dominated by 4 point genes and has lots of those.

Some stud bucks in those pics. Thanks for sharing them with us all. The body size on that one buck is huge. If you think he is 6 yrs old he may be on the decline antler wise.
