Heres the story on my Boston Bar mulie
Had a week off this last week, so I pinned er up to Boston Bar. Set up camp in an area I've hunted in for over 20 years. Excited the first morning I woke up, it was still dark. Put my headlamp on and hoofed er up the mountain to the base of some rim rock. I knew the area held deer and I managed to find some sheds. Some deer had made it through last season, which was a good sign! And I saw a few rubs, fairly fresh. But by this time it was mid day, I knew they would be bedded and from some of the vantage points they would've seen me. So plan B: wake up the next morning even earlier. And head er up to the same area. So the next morning found me up the mountain, getting light in the same area. So I hunkered down to take a breather. Old age catching up lol. After a 15 minute rest I realized I had worked my way up four ridges. Climbing to the 5th ridge that had a nice bench on it. Finding the game trail made it a lot quieter. And the trail had been heavily used. For some reason I looked straight up and I could see the rim rock and low and behold there he was walking along the base of the rim rock. I could see head gear on him but I could not count points. He hadn't seen me at this point, and then he was gone. I had another 30 yards of a steep hill climb to crest the bench he was on. The wind was in my favor. It really was looking good. But shit! Was it ever quiet. As I got to the last place I saw him, I panned around and there the distinct look of a black nosed, white muzzle, eyes and antlers staring me down. Ever so slowly, pulled out my Remington 700 in 270. Stilll couldn't count points, he looked good. In one motion he turned his head to his left, I counted 1, 2, 3, 4 BANG!! And he was gone from my scope . The excitement that was goin through me could not be explained, and I just knocked down a Boston Bar mulie again. Slowly I made my way to him as he took his last breath. The 270 high shok had gone straight through his neck breaking one of his vertibraes. Now I realized I had a lot of work ahead of me. I was by myself way up the side of this mountain. So the drag began. Long story short; I got him down, took the better part of the day and back to camp.

Nice one. Sounds like you worked pretty hard for it.

I guess the snow has melted away. There was 2-4" on the ground earlier this week.

I just got a 4x3 in the boston bar area myself last mon. I have done a lot of scouting in the area this year and really didn't see as much sign as I have in past years. I have noticed way more wolf sign though and I'm sure there's no co-incidence there. It's also a great area for bears there, but I think the wolves may be pushing them out a bit too. I saw fewer this spring than in the past few years.
