We took a drive over to our favorite late season mulie hill in Region 3 yesterday, and couldn't make it up!A foot and a half on the one steep spot, and after 3 tries we had to hunt lower down.Saw lots of deer,15-20 does, and 2 small bucks, but I think the hatracks are still up the hill away from the does,as the rut is almost over.Woke up to 5" of fresh stuff this morning,so we'll be chaining up fot the last weekend!Anyone else make it out? It looks like BC is goingn to have a "big snow" year...I ownder how our wildlife pops will be affected by it?

Shouldn't be too bad so far. Its primarily spring that you should be concerned with. Any extended winter (late spring) with any freeze thaw (heavy crust) and more snow / cold will have a more profound impact than the amount of snow early on.

Yeah, so far this stuff is pretty fluffy!:)

I'm pretty astonished though, there has been more snow this winter (which is just starting) than both the previous years (at my home)

I even had to have the driveway plowed this year, first time in 2 -3 years!! 8-)

Still seeing fresh tracks at the 1200 m. level, in knee deep snow. Time to run the sled over to reg.3 for a road-kill (after I finish moving snow again)

I was waist deep last week in hell's half acre tracking a buck the past two weekends. Also seen a dink up there.

There is a crust up there - unfortunately I'm still breaking through it and that country's too steep for snowshoes. The wolf track that I saw wasn't breaking through.

All the does and smaller bucks are lower but there's still plenty of snow down there too (probably around 38-4000 ft).

One more kick at the cat this weekend.
