I was thinking of submitting an elk of mine into the B.C. record books, but I'm not too sure how one goes about doing so. Does anyone out there know?
Also, does anyone know of an official B&C measurer in Prince George?
Thanks

Rick Berreth

Lives in College Heights. It's always neat going over to his place.

Sorry, don't have his # on me, but should be in book or on net.

Don't go before class, you won't be making it to the UNI if you do;)

somewhere on there is a request form for a list of scorers in your area.

If you mean a true BC record, try 'Wildlife records club of British columbia'

Thanks guys, I'll give that a try. I shot this particular elk last year and I think it'd be cool to put 'em in the books.

Here he is. The field photo doesn't really do this bull justice. It's hard to tell, but the left main beam is 52" and the right is 50". I scored him at just over 340 gross, and in the mid 330's net. Not a monster, but respectable.http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q223/mikeb04/elk2005.jpg

Nice looking bull. congrats......
Is the Boone & Crockett record book for world wide or just northamerica?
Is there a record book just for blacktails in BC? or is it just under the regulations of the B&C book?
Where would i find the statistics on these blacktails?

Yes 320 for typical rockies. That bull should go about 325 net. Nice long mains, excellent G5s, good G4s and G3s, G1s and G2s are what may keep it from 340 class. At least that's what I could tell from the pics. That's a really nice bull!

i see the minimum score for blacktails only 115 i scored mine at 131 5/8 net. guess i should do it officially now. I always thought that the min score to make the book hear on the island was 100 points ,if thats what your talking about ??????. hunter 1947.

I'm not sure about the island and if it is different from the bc book itself. the minium score shown on the link provided from mainland hunter said blacktail min. was 115. The min. for the B&C blactail was 125 i believe.

I have two books from the island from years back and they show some scores that are 100 points ,they might have changed the min scoring in the last few years ?????. hunter 1947.

Lets get it straight. There is a "British Columbia Records Club" book and also a "Boone and Crockett Record Book" The two have different requirements.

Hunter1947

Is the two books paper copies with yellow paper? If so, they are a couple of tries at making an island record book. The min was 100 and it was set up as the island deer are the only true Columbia Blacktails as they are not influenced by mainland mulies.

I have both copies some where.

Yup the Vancouver Island Book is for Island deer scoring over 100 typical points (net). There is a newer green covered one that was done late 90's early 2000.

the green one was published december 2000. The Vancouver Island book is 100 or better. The BC book is 115 of better... however, I dont trust some of those mainland bucks... i think there be some mulie influence in there:twisted:
