Been looking for a new two up quad. Currently the only available options are:

Polaris Touring 550
Arctic Cat TRV 550
BRP/Can-Am Outlander Max 650

Other than the Ford vs Dodge syndrome are there any real pros and cons between these units? The BRP seems to be a little better all around by the specs.

Any comments from experience would be appreciated.

go test ride them yourself and make your decision that way.

I've ridden the Polaris and own the Can-Am. Can-Am is more expensive , has a nicer ride, more top end power and speed and power steering, smallish gas tank,16L. The Polaris has lots of low end power and scoots good to 60 kph , no power steering and a 19L gas tank for better range.

Can-Am are by far the best... but they are also the most expensive to buy and repair... But they are the best hands down.

i have the 06 outlander 800 max(year before the can am) , i too did a ton of research before i bought. best desicion ive made in a long time. and after 6500 km's it runs like new and the ride is still the same as the day i got it.
regular services and replaced my belt once at 5800 kms and not cause i needed to but because i wanted to (peace of mind)
it should be your only choice.

I have the 800 outlander max 2006. It's been used and abused and still runs like the day I bought. One issue in6 years was a new battery....that's it!! Easy decision in my opinion.

Arctic Cat...lol, I know a few people that have/had them, mostly "had" them and they were always in the shop.
Polaris...their quality control has improved considerably over the last few years and they're not bad now,
still overweight and thirsty, but fairly reliable.
Can Am...overall one of the best, not as reliable in the long term as Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki, but they have
great engines with plenty of power and good suspensions and EPS. The best choice amongst these three.

I vote for the CanAm.

If you like fixing and working on stuff and want a love/hate relationship with the service department, get a Polaris.

I don't know/ride with anyone with a Cat so no comment.

I've got an 09 can-am 650 max, awesome bike! I can't say enough about it and by far the nicest quad I've ever ridden. Not only does the added length make it double like a dream it climes like crazy because of the longer wheel base. I had a honda before this quad and worried that it wouldn't stand up to the abuse I put it through but so far it has......

Not a big fan of two for sure so go with can am. Although I saw them broke down quite a bit in spring bear camp.... Def better than the other two.

A/Cat - Company had one last year for us to use... didn't make it through half a season of pole/line maintenance, always in the shop. Ended up having to take my personal quad along on the truck just in case I had to rescue the work quad

Polaris - Wife rides a 2012 850xp and she loves it, i find it much too heavy... suspension is a nice comfy Cadillac ride, however it is very soft and likes to dive during accel and braking. I found the 2 up really didn't add any length to the wheelbase and that concerned me so we just bought the single rider version. Gets around 250 kms to a tank right now so I say good fuel economy

Can-am - You get what you pay for. New work quad is the 650 max xtp. Rides like a dream, could use more power but is still sporty and fun to ride. Can handle 2 riders without any excessive body roll but could use more in the power department again... recommend you get the larger displacement engine and just carry some extra fuel. $5000 more than the 850xp

My favorite over all is the Kawasaki brute force 750, I have had 2 and loved the first one so much I bought a second and will probably buy a third once they come out with a bigger engine option. I put over 9,000 kms on the first one and my present one is at 2,500 kms with no end in sight. You will end up tinkering with it though but it is SOOO sporty, fun, and LIGHT weight that you can ride all day, every day and be ready to go the next day however, it doesn't come in 2-up.

Check out the Polaris 550 Sportsman x2. It has a 400 lb ratted rear rack that morphs as a second seat. Has all you would ever want in a hunting ATV plus it can do two up.

I have a 2-up CanAm outlander and did a lot of research before buying it. It is at the smaller end of the power spectrum but is an awsome machine. As has been said earlier by others, the ride says it all.

I have polaris sportsman 550x2.
It has the rear dump box that morphs into a seat.
Longer wheelbase makes it feel pretty stable on the hills.
No problem with 2 200lb guys on it

One other reason the can ams are more money is because you are getting a 3 year warranty. Most others come with 6 months. If you were to buy the extended warranty, the difference would equal the price of the can am. How good their warranty coverage/process is, varies with each case it seems.

Not on all Can Am's....Depending on the time of year and incentive you only get 6 months of no charge, and 6 months of costs-you-money-warranty.....
