Looking to replace the sling on my rifle, the current one I have is comfortable but when I have my pack on its always slipping off my shoulder unless I put quite a bit of weight on it or put my neck right through the sling which is uncomfortable with a pack on. What's everyone else using?

I use the wider version leather military sling...if you find it slides off your shoulder put some rubber around it at that point.

Kifaru "Gun Bearer", and thank me later....

Price is great, and you'll find any excuse to wear a pack once you have one.....

Curling supply stores sell grippers you glue to the bottoms of your shoes to grip the ice. Cut one to fit your sling and glue it on. It works really well.

I like and use these neoprene slings. They grip your shoulder quite well. But yes like S.shot says put some rubber on the strap or something grippier.

The non slip on this is amazing, ive used it on wet raingear and it grips like a hotdamn, also the slightly stretchy material in the padding does wonders to reduce felt weight.

Ha phooey LOL You need a Safari sling. Will never fall off your shoulders unless a Grizzly is laying a beating on you LOL

The safari one looks good too. I wonder how well it will sit riding on the quad. Ever tried it?

Safari slings are nice, keeps the weight centered over your body and the rifle is always at the ready, may not matter if hunting open country but matters if hunting timber. good luck

Mine is a thick rubber "scuba mask headstrap" type from browning. It grips really well and has some stretch to it, which is nice when your shooting without a rest.

The Safari sling works for me and so does the Vero Vellini double D sling.

Check out the Murray Quick Set rifle sling, Murray leather has a web site.
I've used them for decades, won't use anything else...

Wow, I'm amazed no one seems to have experience with a gun bearer.....
A sling and a pack don't go together, and no matter how "grippy" it is, the weight is still fully on your shoulder.

This is the best rifle sling ever made I have tried them all at some point. I carry a rifle our shotgun over a hundred days a year so I know what I am talking about.

I use the Safari Sling. If you do any amount of walking it is the way to go - especially if you have a pack.

It works okay off a quad, certainly better than a shoulder sling but not as good as a stationary quad mounted rack.

Others as well as myself have mentioned the Safari sling. You do have to sling your head through but it allows for hands free scrambling up or down slope as well as having the rifle readily deployable. It would be very practical with a pack.
I mentioned the Vero Vellini. It is not that suitable for use with a pack as it tends to cross the back. Can be used with a fanny pack but anything larger is a no go.

Look at the Limbsaver rifle/crossbow sling. Stays put even when bending over because it has a swivel that allows it to stay level. Wholesale sports has lots of them, $40ish.

That new browning one that is all rubber is AWESOME. It never slides off your shoulder and stays snug when over your head and under your arm, if you do a ton of hiking and going into shitty places it is wicked for staying put, plus it is super light. I bought a second one today and am going to order one for every rifle I have. Comes with swivels as well !

I have the Kifaru gun bearer as well and it is the best option while wearing a pack. My one pack had a built in scabbard but I never use it. I also have a safari sling and it works well also but my choice is the Kifaru hands down.

Anything but a Butler Creek.

Had the supplied swivel snap on me and drove my rifle into the ground as I was after a large bull moose.

Cracked the stock, and damaged the crown.

And wasnt able to shoot the moose cause of it!

Also had a hell of a time with Bushnell (parent company) regarding a manufacturers defect.
