We went out with skyhawk last Sunday for ducks to Ladner marsh. It was cold and rainy day, we tried different locations with vary results. I even lost one of my newly rigged decoys, I guess its line was too short and the anchor took off the ground with rising tide and floated away. Next day when I plunked the ducks I noticed a band on one of the birds. Yay! It's my first. The band is reported and here is the info:
Species: MALLARD
Date banded: 08/20/2012
Banding Location: CHENA RIVER, NORTH FAIRBANKS, FAIRBANKS NORTH STAR BOROUGH, ALASKA, USA
Age: HATCHED IN 2012
This young mallard flew over 2200km to end up on our dinner table :)
I will keep this bling on my call lanyard.
