Gilmore, looks like alot of snow there. We came through right after the storm on Monday and there was nowhere near that amount. Smells a little fishy to me.

That's a 240-250 class buck. A flippin' giant! The snowloads don't look right but perhaps it is a higher elevation southern Interior buck? I haven't seen anything that has come out of the States that looks like that. The internet does have a life of it's own though and pictures can be drug up from years ago with new locations attached to them.

Agreed, wonderful buck.

Mark, someday you just might get a chance at a buck of that class and can close.....although doubtful. LOL.

Even when you kill a half ass buck you so grossly embellish the story and the numbers the buck actually scores the result is your credibility is very weak in certain hunting communities.

To each their own.

Wishing you well in future hunts.

At least you acknowledge the obvious.
We do.
And Mark...the joking is directed at your embellishment of "you" and ur escapades...it's so obvious..to the point of emberassment. Not a personal attack. My joking comments r not about others that actually kill some really big sh*t and are honest about it...and try and keep it quiet. Novel thought eh.

If ur contact has had hands on a 280" mule deer...wow and good on them.

Our crew has killed some incredible bucks....but 280"!!!!!
Nope.

If your "purported" awareness of a 280 is real...wow. I'm totally stoked for the trigger man. Very happy for him.

280 inches - 40 more than this one that was just recently shot in Wyoming? That back shot in the Henry Mountains on the Utah Sportsman's tag last year scored 230. 280 is more than just a stretch.

Awesome. While we're waiting for internet confirmation what was the guy shooting? If it was less than a 270 the deer wouldn't score more than 170 that's a known fact. A magnum could get a 200 plus deer but a 280? Hell, that'd have to be a good marksman that could pick just the right shot with a 338 mag at least. Or a 45-70 close up

Sofa King

i looked more at the right side than the left.
the left has a ton of junk.
the right has your main double-fork, then another huge tine right behind the front fork.
and the G2?(is that the second tine from the front) is very tall.
then the rear fork splits as well if i remember right.
it had some kickers also or each tine split.

but if that earlier pic on here is 230-250, then this merritt buck sure ain't 280.
but i don't give two-shits about score so i have no idea.

I heard it was an "archery" deer, ranged at 120 yards and shot with a 40 lb. youth crossbow. Apparently the deer lived for 6 long and painfull days before dying, when found it was extremely emaciated and gaunt, the meat was total garbage and thrown out.

Trophy only that was shot in Clearwater, home of the big NT mules.

this buck is real. i dont know how it scores but what i do know is it is real and the shooter got it on video and it might possibly be on wildtv in the future. i heard 9x8 and i know the area it was shot and i know there is some hogs in that area. usually this time of year u cant get into it cuz of to much snow.

The buck I have pics of is a big 4x4 frame. Lotsa mass, lotsa trash, but it could be recycled, so don't get excited. Looks like a Utah/Colorado buck to me.

I just looked at the photos of this buck, it is a nice buck;Higher than wide, lot of points on the RH side and lots of small point on the the LH side (other than the standard 4x4 frame) nice palmation. I would guess that it would go 195-205NT JUDGING FROM 5X7 PHOTOS.

you mean "right side" in the pic and not the antlers right?
the right antler apperaed to have less junk, but an extra actual full-length tine or two.

the buck is real, but the score has been grossly exaggerated.
i don't think it was the shooter who "claimed" it was 280.

So we've gone from a 250 buck, to a 280 buck, to a 230 buck, to a 195-200 buck and now to a 215 buck???? How many big bucks have been killed in Merrit? Sounds like Muley Heaven. Guess I should start hunting there again. :)

Wow this thread has taken on a life of its own. Compared to to other forums such as the Alberta outdoors forum, it gets kind of humorous. For instance, in the last week there there has been a report of a seventeen year old who shot his first mule deer buck which gross scores easily more than 200 points, with a pic of the proud youngster. There will be deductions but still the buck of a lifetime for one so young. And just today a video taped hunt of a guy's buddy shooting a very good mulie buck which anyone would be proud to have mounted. No mystery on that board, just the straight goods showing the results.

If Mark shot it, it would be scored to the best of my ability with a sewing tape, and the score posted accordingly. My history of scoring racks is usually on the conservative side of official scores by .5 % (for the record)
