As a reminder of what Schedule C animals are, and what you can shoot under this list. From the regs. Question: Why Magpies? I always thought Magpies were cool....

You do need a hunting licence to hunt the

are hunting them on your property or they are
damaging your property:
(a) Corvus caurina - Northwestern Crow

Just the Black-bills.
Yellow-Bills are a No Shoot zone so be sure of an accurate ID before placing the scope on it.

Pests are pests , and this opens the door to deal with them properly for those that choose to.
Some on the list are actually invasive species, that don't belong here, and should be targeted by more , environmental cleansing

magpies cool ? you haven't been woken up early by their squawking very often then.

Yah they're kinda cool looking. Pretty scarce from what I've seen. Must be all hanging out at boxhitcheses joint.

Maybe, in the valley, but there's a healthy population of them in the south-central B.C. dry belt.

Magpies aren't something you want picking on your livestock.

My rancher pals have a lot more issues with ravens and crows with newborn calves.....never heard any Magpie complaints...

And Boxhitch, you have to wake up before they do! :D

the ravens decimate the ducklings in kelowna.
they come right down and kill them and fly away with them.
very sickening to watch.

Maggpies'll sit on a cow and pick away at it's back causing a open hole which may or may not get infected. I have shot lots right off cows (carefully of course).

We've had magpies kill lambs a few times, it's more common with crows and ravens (even calves), but it happens. And they eat lots of baby grouse and ducks and song birds and such
