I am a new hunter and was wondering why a four point mule deer does not include the tine points? If anyone can let me know that would be great.

as you can see by going to the boone and crockett website here
http://www.boone-crockett.org/pdf/SC_muledeer_typical.pdf
the scoreing system in place has no referance for a score on the brow tines. most have come to accept this as the general rule

The brow tine is the first point and is referred to as G-1 on the scoring chart. It is measured as any other point is. A typical Mule deer is defined as a 5 point max. Any additional points would either be non-typical or abnormal.
