Buy a tag, and dump any legal WT you see.

Depends on where in 317 you are hunting. In the southern part you are not likely to see a WT. There are pockets of WT in the north eastern part of 317.

If you are going to southern 317 for mule deer the snow has not pushed them down yet because there is almost no snow.

Assuming you make a modest $40,000 per year, a whitetail tag will set you back .000375% of your annual income. Are you willing to risk all that for 50 to 100 pounds of awesome hormone free wild game meat and an adventure you can share with your family, friends and all of us here on HBC? Man, I'd hate to be in your shoes. That's a lot to consider..:-D

i never worry as much about the odds of actually cutting my tag, but more on the opportunity to be out there experiencing the hunt.

Yes buy a tag, I've taken a couple of whities out of 3-17 over the years and I rarely went there.

I was working in Lytton a few weeks ago. I talked hunting with a bunch of guys, mostly band members, and they said there are lots of WT in the Botaine valley.

Lots of places out there where they coexist

You may see mule deer numbers effected in the low land areas but there is a lot of country in BC that WT will not take a strong hold. It is nature survival of the fittest and it is plain to see WT are adapting well. WT were not transplanted but instead are spreading on there own. Moose have done the same in BC yet there is no call to kill them all. Mule deer have also spread into areas where they bred out BT but I do not see people saying kill all mule deer.

WT are another game species to hunt and taste good so why not enjoy the fact there spread is creating new hunting opportunity. Manage them like any other species to create healthy population I agree with but saying to exterminate them in areas they spread into on there own no. If you are worried about mule deer don't shoot them.

The guys saying they want all whitetails dead, obviously haven't hunted them!

This is my first year chasing them, and they are a ton of fun! I welcome them all across the province, and like wild one said theres lots of terrain where whitetails won't thrive and muleys do.
