I decided to go for a hunt yesterday so after walking the dogs I put on my gear and went for a walk. After about 20 minutes walking I came to one of my favorite little ridges. After sneaking up to the edge I could see a deer about 150yds away and as it lifted it's head I could see bone. I sat and watched him for about 10 minutes as he fed up towards me.I was going to let him feed right by me up the hill so I would have less of a drag but I could feel the wind starting to change direction from him to me to me to him. I got ready and as soon as his head came up in alert I hit him with a 80gr Powershok from the ProHunter in .243. He took off at a run but looked badly hurt. He went over a ridge and I lost sight of him so I waited about 5 minutes and then slowly worked my way down to where he was when I shot him. NO BLOOD!!!!!! I moved along the track he had run on and still nothing. As I crested the rise I still couldn't see him but as I stood there I saw a magpie in a tree looking down at something below it. As I approached I could see him piled up under the tree. The bullet had taken out his left shoulder and homogenized his heart and lungs but had not exited thus no blood trail. He had still gone over 100yds with no heart or lungs, boy are they tough. I didn't have a camera with me so the pics are from home. Just as I was getting ready to hang him up I heard a noise behind me, check out the last shots for what made the noise. Mama deer coming for some COB which she then ate about 20ft away as I finished hanging and skinning my deer.

Nice buck. Funny that the doe wouldn't smell the blood and take off. Ive had the same thing happen in a cut block. Shot a mule buck with a doe, doe runs off, I get up to the buck and gut it, then walk to get the truck. When I returned the doe was back standing 10 feet away from the buck.
