Picked up 303 this morning and met up with our friend for a morning goose hunt. The plan was to shoot all geese no ducks. So the robos stayed home. The field had been holding a few hundred geese of various sizes and species. Mostly cacklers, some specks a few snows and some lessers. We couldnt hunt the field the birds were in most of the time, but we could hunt the field next to it and run traffic. It was either going to be epic or a skunk.

Well light came and we were buzzed by a few ducks which we llet fly with no effort on the call. At About 8 am a flock of 100-150 cacklers crested the trees. A couple of toots on the call and some slick flag work and we landed all 150 of them in the decoys about 20 yards away( there was a bit more to it then that but thas the jist). Which anyone that hunts lessers knows is a huge feat! We pull up and "click" fack miss fire. "click" mis fire again WTF!! 303 and our friend put 5 down in short order while i looked in dis-belief that my gun had just mis fired twice. Well i cracked the barrel to find out the unless you load the gun with shot gun shells you are bound to mis fire!

Shortly after, in the distance we could hear the distinct yodle of ole mr speck. After a little bit of harassing we had 30 of them on the ground 25 yards out side the spread. Put 5 to sleep. Our first specks!! We were super stoked to say the least. The rest of the morning was filled with the odd small group of honkers and lessers and we managed to but a few more lessers down and a total of 12 honkers.

And yah some ducks died to.

12 Honkers, 5 specks, 7 cacklers\lessers, 5 lards(4drakes.) the 2 Specks in the pic are going on our respective walls.

Nicely done sir. Holding a couple hundred lessers and cacklers is no small feat something most will never accomplish. But I gotta say that hurts to pull up and go click on a shoot like that man.

Good job on the yoodlers

I will tell you that it was not amazing. lol. I had 3 heads lined up 1 of which was the most chocolately chested cackler ive ever seen.

It was a combination of not having to be ready at first light and getting in the zone bringing those small geese in.

Regardless it sucked!

Pretty sure if Lorne had shells in the the O/U he would have had 5 birds himself, best view in the house and the first one sitting up ;)

Like always Our "SECRET" spots leave us with some good entertainment, and some dead birds Seriously though another great day in the blind with some good friends and a few spectators

If you can call in them little football sized, nurotic, insane cacklers, within shooting range,,,, I'd call you a master.

I hate the little POS's......
So is there cards in mail for Lorne and I??? ;)
