After years of shooting Barnes bullets, I finally retrieved a spent 168 TTSX out of a moose I shot this year with an LEH.

Not much of a story. Third day of the hunt at 8:30 in morning in a new area we seen this guy. 170 yard shot quartering forward and one shot. He travelled a total on 12 feet and went down. Bullet busted through a rib on each side. Perfect "X" in and the spent bullet was just under the hide on opposite side. My buddy with me could not believe what he saw and the damage it done on the lungs. He is now convinced that the Barnes TTSX is the only way to go.

This moose was saved by a whitetail buck we seen 10 minutes earlier about 1 km from him...both of us did not have a tag for.

He weighed 604 lbs at the butchers shop. Almost forgot how much work these guys are!

Bullet final weight is 166.7 grains and it expanded to 0.603", almost double the calibers diameter. Shot out of a 300 Win mag. loaded with H4350 to a speed just shy of 3000 fps.

Nice moose Tim. I know a lot of people that swear by the Barnes Triple Shock.

Great post. Very informative. I've never recovered a bullet from anything we've downed. I'm going to start looking.

Nice moose too!

Nice moose and again the Barnes perform as design. The only bullet I shot with now is Barnes TSX and I retrieved a few too in some animals, they don’t go far when they’re hit with a Barnes!!

I have a 210 grain ttsx recovered from my moose this year, it was the same result. The bullet traveled from the brisket thru one lung and stopped at the hip joint on the rear quarter. It weighed 209.9 grains after I cleaned the meat off.

Nice moose Tim. I shoot the same bullets in my WSM and they are hammers.

Better keep that bullet in a safe spot, as it could be a looong time before you recover another TTSX.......:-D

Beauty Moose! What region were you hunting? How are those barnes on your barrel?

Region 5-13. No problems with the Barnes through the barrel.
