Well I went out again last week in search of a big muley buck. Considering the ammount of days I have put in this year I really havn't seen many good bucks! I was really trying to hold out for a bigger one but this hunt was just too fun! I couldn't hold off shotting this guy haha. Still have another tag to fill anyways so this is meat in the freezer and still a decent rack as well!
For those of you who like the story: Day three Dad and I had plans on where to go but the thick fog changed that so we tried to go up real high and get above it but even up high still had thick fog! Now it's about 8:30 and we havn't seen a deer yet cause you can only see max 100 yards and usually less thatn that. We decided to go for a little walk anyways. dad went above this big slash and I went below and we both sidehilled along very slowly in the fresh snow. It was pretty quiet walking, and I noticed the wind was steady in my face. just perfect. So I found a nice spot in the thick timber where I could see all around for about 80 yards or so. still decently thick woods but you could definitely see a deer coming. So I sat against a tree in full camo, face mask and all. I sat for all of 15/20 minutes when I see movement and antlers walking onto this ridge at 50 yards just like I Imagined they would! I scrambled for my video camera as I saw he was only a 3 point and not as big as what I was looking for. As I moved he stopped broadside and stared at me with curiosity in his eyes. As I looked at him about to film I thought, that's a big boddied deer, my dad will be rattled if I let him walk. So I put down my stupid camera and I shot him! He ran maybe 30 yards and slid down the steep mountain and piled up into a small tree. I heard him go down but just to be safe and saver the moment I waited 20 minutes. I filmed everything after the shot so I will share that later once I upload to my youtube channel. Here are some pics for now. cheers. mark
