I went out hunting deer around Squamish a few times now and realized my 6.5x55 Tikka with a 12 power scope is a little overkill because the bush is so thick, the scope is pointless when most shots will be well within 100 yards , I was thinking a rifle with good iron sights would be better because i shoot them very well within 100 yards .. I have a nice accurate SKS and a Tavor bullpup rifle in .223 with a aimpoint red dot .. I was wondering if a .223 would be enough say if i use a 75 grain Amax bullet . is .223 legal to hunt deer with in BC?

223 is legal, get rid of the 12 power for bush hunting. i have a 12x on a 223 but its my coyote gun so its ok. in tight bush, iron sights would be better than a 12 power. i am not a fan of the amax bullet but my gun wont shoot them, might also have twist issues with a 75 grain bullet,, but it might not.

Yep im going to ditch the scoped rifle .. My .223 rifle has a 1/7 twist so it can handle heavy bullets , i loaded up some 75gr Amax awhile back and they shot ok , they dont shoot like SMKs but more than good enough accuracy to hunt with .. only other soft points i have are 62 grain?.. I might just use my SKS , just need to find some 7.62x39 soft points now .

I'd use a .223 for deer hunting, but not with AMAX bullets. Use some TSX or Partitions or some heavy for caliber soft points. 7.62x39 softpoints will work fine. Is your scope a fixed 12X? 12X is not a great choice for huting but your 6.5x55 with a lower power (or dialing your scope down to 3 or 4X is ideal.3

Wholesale sports stocks soft point sks rounds and that gun will do fine within 150 yrd or so pretty much a 30-30

I would carry the sks over the tavor personally , but I inagine iether one would be fine .
Is a Tavor non restricted ?
With the bullpup design I would have thought it would be restriced , in which case I dont think you can hunt with it .
If you can awsome , a little bullpup rifle would be nice to carry in the thick bush around here .

Tavor is non restricted. Bullpup rifles that cannot be fired without a bullpu stock don't fall into the bulpup restricted/prohib category.

Yep the Tavor is non restricted , it has a 20 inch barrel and a overall length of 28 inches .. all semi auto center fire rifles must have at least a 18.5 inch barrel and greater than 26 inches in overall length .
