here is a couple of ranch meat bucks that Russ and I shot at long range. Not much of a story, we jetted up the fraser to a draw, hiked in and shot two bucks within a couple of hours of showing up. Some guys might reconize the spot where the bucks were shot, if you do you can keep it because were never doing that hike from hell again.lol

we had all the time in the world to video them but we were having trouble ranging them because they were on top of a ridge. I had Russ beside me with the range finder while I set up, I made the adjustments and waited for the best shot possible. There was no time to video at that point the cam was in my side pocket and I was sandbagged in. We were also watching a possible larger buck in the trees but went for the sure thing. I do have a video after the shot but not worth showing.I look back now and think that it would have been a great vid because both shots were one shot one kill. My buck was dead where he stood and the other buck was the same. I used the 300g match bullets and they only lost about 15% which was impressive to me.

What did the recovered bullets look like? Bergers?

I would post a pic if I still had them, they were bergers and are still probably laying on the rock I put them on. The last time Russ and I were there was 4 years ago and this trip I found one of his 270 shells where here shot a buck so when we go back in 4 years again I will look for my bullets.:)

No pics then! What did they look like? Did they expand much? A .338 caliber bullet doesn't need to expand much to damage tissue as it's already a fairly decent diameter, but unless it hit spine or something, I'd want a bit of expansion, at least. Be interested in hearing about what sort of bullet deformation there was.

both were killed on the first shot, I thought I already mentioned that. I had already cut the hinds off also when the pic was taken, thats why there,s blood all over.

Congrats on the bucks, It sure looks like your set up for the long range shots. Was this your longest kill shot or have you had longer ones.

The first thing I was looking for was to see how the bullets expanded and although they weren't ideal they held together and did expand. There was no four leaf clover but they did petal. Believe me Im really po'd about leaving them behind because I sure would have liked to have posted pics of them just to prove my point about the bullets not being to soft.

this was my longest kill shot and also Russle's. I practice all the time but Russle doesnt, I know that the ethics police will whine but I think that when you have decent equipment and decent conditions anyone can shoot far.

Congrats on the bucks. One shot kill at that range is impressive.I'm curious if
the rifle is a Prairie Gunworks product , can't tell from the pic.
