Does anyone know if these, Mac jackets, come in non-itchy merino wool? My wife wants one for camping.

Most have a quilted lining so it doesn't matter. I'm not sure my Costco mac jacket is wool.

Looks like a Filson label...quite sure they don't use merino wool in any of their Mackinaw Jackets.... Interesting model... Yours?? A old discontinued shooting model maybe..??

Holy Sheep Sh#t Shooter!! Where do they get off thinking they can charge $800 for a mac, and who would be stupid
enough to buy an $800 mac, except maybe that cute blonde moron Paris...provided she was going out in the cold one day...

In Ontario we used to called those "Timmins Dinner jackets" or "Sudbury Smoking Coats".
$800 bucks? Man, there's a lot of stupid people in the world.

A mack under your black leather or jean jacket was a definite fashion statement in the old days in Surrey!
You got to keep warm in winter but still keep your cool image! :-) They were about $20...

you will NEVER find a better 100% wool coat than that filson mac. I have 2 ,one in single mac and also the double mac. LOVE them both. both unlined , I just wear a long sleeve shirt underneath. they really arent that bad for itch anyway. if you want something lined I would go for the wool blend irish setter from WSS, price is easier to take also. a little more stylish than the filson too if you worry about that stuff.

I think alot of people are confusing the cotton "mac" with the original wool "mac" totally different jackets. ya they are both red/black checkered but that is where the similarity ends. you will freeze to death in no time in a wet cotton coat, the wool on the other hand will save your life if you happen to have an unexpected nite out in the woods, even in snow and rain. you get what you pay for, spend $40 for junk or $300-$400 for a quality coat that will last a lifetime if properly cared for.

just as a side note, I think Filson may be the only company still making an original 100% wool mac, if you look on ebay there are alot of wool macs in the $100-$300 range, just be carefull on sizing, if they have been improperly washed in a washing machine the large will now be a medium...

This past summer I went to the local landfill where we have a share shed, inside hanging up was a mint condition pioneer mack jacket. The jacket fits me perfect, I'm wearing it to the village fireworks tonight.
