Hello,

Just wondering how the pemby area has been for mule deer. Ihave not hunted the area since 07. Is there snow on the Hurley and is meager creek open?

Thank and cheers.

Hi - we were up last week for two days and two days the previous week.
Last week the upper part of the hurley did have some snow, and just a few tracks.
Amazingly, though we covered a lot of roads / trails on the Hurley, we saw no deer - just one (large) black bear and we got a grouse.
The lower road has up to four hour periodic closures between 8:30 and 4:40, so we couldn't get to the creek area.
A local resident who has hunted there for many years was also out last week and said this year has been tough. He thought it could be extra long dry hot weather that has made the difference. Who knows? We are going up again Tuesday.
The good news is that if you are up during the week there aren't that many hunters.
Good luck!!

The basin is basically across the river from my backyard .Ive killed wolves in there but never deer hunted in it due to multiple gun muzzles spread in there .
Still to early though, snow or no snow, 2 more weeks !
