well after a morning hike into one of my spots i have been hunting the crap out of for the last 2 months with no luck, there he was about 180 yards away behind some of the thickest willows ever, nice(well was a nice 6x7 till he broke off half an antler) he would take a step as would I. After 10 mins of this a moose barked somewhere behind me and off he went, crap! he lives another day. Drove 5 mins to some land I just got permission walked for couple hours and there ahead of me was about 30 elk, couldnt pass up the good eats so I took this nice big cow, brand new TC Pro Hunter in 30-06 165gr SST at about 240 yards....BANG...FLOP! First time using the SST and it did the job well, insides were jello, doulble lung.

This is all that was left of the SST just the jacket tucked in the far side after smashing a rib on way in and both lungs.

Awesome breakin for the new toy,,,maybe try some Interlocks or Noslers next time,,,just a suggestion,,although your elk was a bang /flop,,the picture of that recovered bullet indicates complete bullet failure (jacket-core separation). Nosler Accubonds would be my personal choice,,,just trying to be helpful,,not criticizing.

I agree the SST did the job but did fail, and sure made a hell of a mess, 1 rib in, 3 on way out. I shoot 165gr accubonds out of my 308, love them. like the barnes triple shoks but here alot of mixed feed back. 180gr accubonds may be the way to go!
