View Full Version : Cut 2 Tags, But One MAJOR Problem.. Anyone Got A Metal Detector?

PointMan

I've been lucky enough to cut 2 tags this week, a spiker mulie on Monday (no photo because it was finished wit a head shot), and a whitetail doe today.

No photo of that one because, unfortunately, I dropped my iPhone in the slash while chasing it, hence the need for a metal dector, unless someone else has a better idea? I'm going to head out tomorrow morning to have a look for it, so GPS search is out because the battery is almost certianly going to be dead.

Do you have the "Find My Phone" app?

Yeah but 3G is turned off so it won't work.

I don't think a metal detector will help you much. It should be right on top easy to see.
Hopefully it isn't camo!

Good luck

Yeah, it's camo.LOL I dropped it somewhere in an old cutblock among the slash, so it's likely down among the branches and such.

Did you call bell/telus/rogers and tell them you lost your phone? They might be able to give you the last coordinates.

Yeah, they can't release any information due to privacy laws, and RCMP can't get the information unless there is risk of death (and apparently my wife threatening to kill me for losing it doesn't count)

Squirrels have probably hid it by now.

Remember, you're on their most wanted list!:)

Lmao, nothing worse than a pissed off wife.
WTF, they can't release private info, it's YOUR phone. Call them back and tell them your not paying your bill due to the fact you lost your phone and they won't release the info needed to find it.

Got the deer, decent sized doe, blew out the right front shoulder completely when the bullet hit, so that quarter is a writeoff

I have one, a metal detector. I could put it on the bus for you. Have family in Lumby that could bring it back to me at the end of Nov. I honestly don't think it would help much, but if you want to try it, PM me.

That sucks man... Good luck with this new hunt. Too bad iPhones don't leave tracks. Hopefully it doesn't snow.

if you know any one with a dog that can track you would be amazed at what they can find.
i am starting to train my pup for blood tracking but at home i hide my keys in the yard and she pics them up in seconds. Hoping by next season she is ready for the real thing unfortunatly it does not help now

Did you have service where you were? If so, try giving yourself a call to see if you can hear it ring. Good luck.

Do you have a rental yard in your area.I've rented metal wands to search for underground services, gaslines, waterlines, corner iron property posts, etc. They are adjustable as to the sensitivity, etc.I once found a plain old brick that had some metal content in it, and set off the detector.Good luck!

Luckily no, it was buried deep in the seat of the truck, the seat cover had even flipped up over it, was pretty much invisible. Three of us had already searched the truck without findin it.

I had that happen two years ago. Jumping down off logs chasing after my buck, and my brand new stainless steel LG Shine slipped out of my hoodie pouch and was lost for good. But I did get a nice 3x4 buck with a wide spread and wicked basses. It was worth it haha

50/50 The relief makes up for the embarrassment, it could have been worse, I could have spent the day combing the slash before I found it! LOL

To bad you never got to use the metal detector. That would have been good " I found something" " What " " false alarm it's just the seat belt buckle " lol Joking aside I am glad you found your phone now lets see those deer pictures.
