Well it all started on tuesday afternoon when me two of my boys and my dad headed up to Tunkwa Lake resort. We met up with another partner and his son and got ready for the morning. It took a few days to get used to the new area and to figure it out. It sure helped by reading a few threads on here about the Tunkwa area ! We were seeing lots of does and fawns and a few cow / calf moose but no horns . Friday morning my dad and yongest son jumped a nice buck in the second growth but couldn't get a shot. So saturday (our last day ) we awoke to abut 4 inches of snow ! Off we went back to where dad had jumped the buck . We hiked into a small slash where we had seen does earlier but saw nothing and didn't cut any tracks. So back to where "Gramps" had seen the buck . The snow had just quit falling and we saw several sets of FRESH tracks heading into the cut where Gramps had seen the buck . We parked and got out and showed the kids how to tell the difference in buck and doe tracks . Gramps took Ryan and followed the traks along the slash edge towards the area he had jumped the buck. I took Brandon and we went in about 200 yards apart from the other two . Things were perfect , wind in our face , fresh tracks and good visibility . We crested the top of the cut and saw two does wandering back to the timber edge, i stayed put and Gramps and Ryan worked down a bit further so they could see into a few guts and corners . I moved through the slash towards them so I could see the bottom as well .I see my dad suddenly crouch down and get Ryan set up on a stump for a rest .I throw up the bino's and see a deer behind a pine tree , I can see its a buck , I then see another smaller buck standing there. I see Ryan take a breath and Bang , the buck behind the pine drops. We tried to get my other son onto the othe buck but he was packing a 30-30 and the deer was too far out ( about 250 yds ) What a morning !! All of us there 3 generations !http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/Resize_of_IMGP1490.JPG (http://javascript<strong></strong>:;)http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/Resize_of_IMGP1491.JPG (http://javascript<strong></strong>:;)http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/Resize_of_IMGP1507.JPG (http://javascript<strong></strong>:;)http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/Resize_of_IMGP14871.JPG (http://javascript<strong></strong>:;) Ryan made a great shot ! 230 yds, took out the heart !http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/PA200045.JPG

Awsome hunt !! We did it all ,tracking, hiking , packing, and great shooting ! Now for some of those blacktails ! Starting to rut around here now !!

A 3 generation trip.. That is awesome! I see in the one pic you guys are dragging it with a rope. We always just grab the horns if we are dragging it. Does the rope make it easier or is it just a preference thing, I've never bothered.

The rope was easier for us and I had one . I didn't have to bend down to far and it slid in the snow great. Still had to lift over the odd bigger log.

That's awesome Deano. Congrats to the boys and gramps as well. Maybe Gramps is a bit of a good luck charm seems he's getting in on a few kills this year.
Did they boys get their first taste of Lucky too? :-D

nice work Ace Mace looks like ya had some fun up there. nice to see ryan slammed his first buck.brandon didn't pull the 300 off your shoulder and take a crack at the other that must of drove him bonkers. to bad about not doulbing up for the boys.the blacktails should be getting rutty soon. nice to see some straight shooting from the boys. darkside out
